Secure Chat Encryption
Mar — Jun 2025
Overview
A layered message-encryption exploration combining Vigenère Cipher, AES-128 CBC, and RC4 for secure, real-time-friendly chat communication.
Background
An exploratory cryptography project comparing classical and modern encryption approaches to understand the trade-off between speed and security in real-time communication.
Problem Statement
Chat messages sent as plaintext are vulnerable to interception, but encryption methods strong enough to be secure can also be too slow for real-time communication.
Objectives
- Apply Vigenère Cipher for basic key-based message encryption.
- Use AES-128 CBC for strong, standards-based message protection.
- Integrate RC4 as a lightweight cipher for fast, real-time exchanges.
